What a straight smile actually changes

Nobody comes to us because they want braces. They come because of what happens afterwards.

You stop editing your photos

The tilted head. The closed-lip smile. The one angle you know works. Most people do not realise how much energy that takes until they stop doing it.

You stop covering your mouth when you laugh

It is a small, automatic gesture, and almost everyone who does it says the same thing afterwards - they had no idea they were doing it at all.

Your teeth get easier to look after

Crowded and overlapping teeth trap what a toothbrush cannot reach. Straighter teeth are simply easier to keep clean, which matters far more at sixty than it does at sixteen.

Your bite works properly

Straightening teeth is not only cosmetic. A bite that meets correctly puts less strain on your teeth and jaw, and wears down more evenly over a lifetime.

For your children, it is a head start

Catching a problem at seven is a very different job to fixing it at seventeen. Parents tell us the confidence shift in a teenager is the part they were not expecting.

Real results from our patients

Every smile is different. Here are just a few of the transformations our specialist team has created.

Every brace and aligner we offer in Reading

Invisalign clear aligners

Removable, virtually invisible aligners that straighten teeth gradually. We are a Diamond Apex provider, which puts us in the top 1% in Europe.

Fixed metal braces

The most versatile option we offer, and still the most effective for complex cases. Modern brackets are considerably smaller than the ones you may remember.

Ceramic and gold braces

Fixed braces in tooth-coloured ceramic or gold, for anyone who wants the reliability of a fixed brace without it being the first thing people notice.

Lingual braces

Fixed braces bonded to the back of your teeth rather than the front. Completely hidden from view, and fully customised to your mouth.

Children's and teen orthodontics

Early assessment from age seven, Invisalign First for younger children, and functional braces to guide jaw growth while it is still happening.

Who will actually be planning your smile?

Your treatment is planned by a GDC-registered specialist orthodontist - a dentist who has completed years of further training in nothing but the movement of teeth, and who is listed on the General Dental Council's specialist register.

We are also a Diamond Apex Invisalign provider, which places us in the top 1% of providers in Europe, and our clinical director is a Tatler-recommended dentist.

Nervous? You are in very good company

Plenty of people put this off for years. Sometimes it is the chair itself. Sometimes it is embarrassment about the state of their teeth. Often it is simply not knowing what it is going to cost.

Our practice is small and it is quiet - no queue building behind you, no rush, and nobody making you feel bad about how long you have left it. Tell us when you book that you are anxious and we will give you a longer, calmer appointment.

Nothing is decided on the day. You can come in, find out where you stand, and go away and think about it for as long as you like.

Frequently asked questions

Are you a specialist orthodontist or a general dentist?
We are a specialist orthodontic practice. All of our orthodontists are on the GDC Specialist Register, which means orthodontics is all we do - it is not a side service offered alongside general dentistry. This matters because it means every patient is treated by someone with postgraduate specialist training specifically in orthodontics.
For 10 to 17 year olds, the first step is a free screening with one of our orthodontic therapists. It is a no-obligation appointment where we take a 3D scan, photographs and an x-ray, which our specialist orthodontist reviews before advising on next steps. Adults start with a full consultation with our orthodontist (£150), which includes a detailed assessment, your options and a treatment plan - all in one 90-minute appointment.
Yes - we treat patients of all ages. We recommend children have an orthodontic assessment by age 7, even if treatment isn’t needed straight away. For teens and adults, we offer a full range of options from fixed braces to completely invisible aligners.
Treatment prices start from £3,450 for shorter aligner courses, with full Invisalign treatment from £4,950 and fixed braces from £4,950. We offer 0% interest-free finance with deposits from £500, so you can spread the cost into manageable monthly payments. You can also save 5% by paying in full. See our full fee guide for all prices.
We are the only Diamond Apex Invisalign provider in Reading and are in the top 1% of providers across Europe. Invisalign cases at Park Lane are planned and overseen by Dr Ben Buffham, a specialist orthodontist with extensive experience in clear aligner treatment.
We are based at 65 Park Lane, Tilehurst, Reading, RG31 5DP. We have on-site parking and our practice is on a main bus route. All treatment rooms are on the ground floor with a ramped entrance, making us fully accessible.
Yes. Once your braces or aligners are removed, we monitor your results for a full year. If you have any issues with your bonded or removable retainer during that time, we will correct them at no extra charge.
